Container forklift is a special container loading and unloading machine commonly used in container terminals and yards, mainly used for auxiliary operations such as stacking empty containers, and can also be loaded and unloaded and short-distance handling in comprehensive terminals and yards with small container throughput (less than 30,000 TEUs per year).


Characteristics of container forklift


The advantages of using container forklift trucks in container terminals and freight yards are: flexible, large operating range; Compared with other container machinery, its equipment purchase cost is low; Through the replacement of fittings, it can be used to load and unload other goods, to achieve the effect of a multi-purpose machine.


Container forklift trucks also have some disadvantages: the commonly used front container forklift trucks have large lateral size, large channel width required (about 14m), and fewer stacking layers, which makes the utilization rate of yard area and height low; When the load is full, the front wheel pressure is high, which requires the loading capacity of the dock front and the road surface of the yard. When walking, the field of vision is blocked by the container, and it is difficult to work on the box.


Compared with container gantry cranes, the operation efficiency of container forklifts is low. Therefore, it is not suitable for large throughput container terminals, and is generally used for comprehensive terminals with small container throughput, or as auxiliary machinery for professional container terminals and storage yards.


Construction requirements of container forklift trucks


Since the object of container forklift loading and unloading operation is mainly container, therefore, the following requirements should be met in the structure and performance parameters:


1. The lifting height is determined by the number of layers of stacking containers, and a certain working safety gap is left.


2, in order to maintain a good operating line of sight, the cab seat should have a high function.


3, the lifting weight is consistent with the total mass of various box types. For forklifts working only with forks, the lifting weight is equal to the total mass of the container; For forklifts with top lifting spreader, the lifting weight is equal to the total mass of the container plus the mass of the spreader.


4, load center distance to take half of the container width


5, in order to facilitate the alignment of the container corner lock hole or the bottom fork slot, the fork frame should be considered in the design of the side shift function and the swing function in the horizontal plane.
